The Sun Disappears
A permanent deep freeze sets in while the power grid fails. The map goes dark and cold rather than being torn apart, so the round is lost to exposure in the open rather than to one big hit.
| The banner says | “What if the sun disappears?” |
|---|---|
| Hazard type | Cosmic |
| Where it hits | Any map, every open area |
| How to survive | Treat it as a shelter round: find an interior and stay in it for the full timer. Running between buildings to loot is what gets players caught outside when the freeze deepens. |
How the round plays out
- 1.The light goes out. The map turns dark enough that you lose track of where the streets run.
- 2.The deep freeze sets in while the power grid fails, so the buildings that looked like shelter stop being lit or powered.
- 3.The cold keeps deepening for the rest of the round rather than hitting once, so exposure is the thing that finishes the round.
Where it kills you: Anywhere outside. This scenario does not tear the map apart, so the losing move is choosing to keep moving between buildings instead of committing to one.
What to do in the 30-second head start
- ›Pick one interior and get inside it before the banner ends.
- ›Learn the door you came in through — moving in the dark is where people get lost.
- ›Do not plan a route that needs street time later in the round. The cold gets worse, not better.
If you are already caught out: Break line of sight to the open sky and get inside the nearest building, even one you did not plan on. A worse shelter beats a better one you never reach.
Worst maps for it: Any map with long exposed crossings — the Golden Gate crossing has the most unavoidable outdoor distance between covers.
Surviving is half preparation and half knowing the map — see the map list and the round guide for the 30-second head start.
Other disasters
The Moon Falls
The moon drops toward Earth in stages. The sea first surges in and out, burning chunks fall from the sky, and gravity weakens until loose objects and players start lifting off the ground.
A 500 m Mega Tsunami
A wave that grows as it approaches and drags players off the coast. The water arrives later than the warning does, so the 30-second head start is the entire survival window.
Earth Enters a Mega Storm
A storm that tracks wind speed as it builds — the HUD climbs toward 150 KM/H — and then starts roping out tornadoes. The banner's own name for the late stage is that the storm never ends.
Earth Completely Freezes
Snow starts falling and the temperature keeps dropping until the oceans freeze solid. Buildings give out from the cold rather than from a wave, so the round is a shelter round with collapsing cover.
Earth Loses Its Atmosphere
Windows break, the wind tears loose everything not fixed, the sun burns without protection and the oceans boil. With no air pressure there is no sound, which removes the usual audio warning.
It Rains for 1,000 Years
The rain does not stop. The HUD counts the downpour forward by months and then years while the water level climbs, until the map is an island and pieces of it break off.
